Bio
Recruited from East Geelong, Percy Ellingsen was a precocious talent who made his VFL debut for Richmond at just 16 years of age. After a short stint with Melbourne, the dangerous rover returned to his home town to play for Geelong, where he produced his best football during the interruption of the First World War. A constant threat around goal, Ellingsen notably booted six majors against his former side Richmond in 1917 and established a durable club record that same season by kicking Geelong's only two goals in a stifling loss to Collingwood. His contribution to the game extended well beyond his playing days; he later transitioned to officiating and became a respected VFL field umpire, overseeing more than 50 senior matches including finals in the 1930s before retiring to Tasmania as a publican.
