Bio
Recruited from North Hobart in the Tasmanian Football League, Percy Jory established himself at St Kilda as a versatile forward who could also pinch-hit in the ruck. He was a central figure during a competitive era for the club, lining up on a half-forward flank in St Kilda’s historic maiden Grand Final appearance in 1913 against Fitzroy. His playing career was severely interrupted by World War I, during which he served with the First AIF and notably featured in the famous 1916 "Pioneer Exhibition Game" in London, playing alongside other VFL stars in front of wartime crowds. Jory returned to the Junction Oval for a final season in 1920 before transitioning to the other side of the whistle, eventually officiating more than 120 VFL games as a goal umpire.
