Bio
Percy Kimberley holds a permanent place in football history as a member of Fitzroy’s inaugural VFL team. Born in the heart of rival territory in Collingwood, the 19-year-old was recruited to the Maroons and selected for the club's historic debut match against Carlton in Round 1, 1897. Kimberley managed five senior appearances during that foundation season, featuring in the side’s early campaign as they established themselves as the league’s first powerhouse. While he was unable to cement a long-term position in a lineup that would go on to claim the premiership that year, his contribution as one of the original pioneers of the competition ensures his status as a foundation player remains secure.
