Bio
Recruited from Geelong West, Percy Taylor was a sharp-shooting rover and forward whose VFL career was fragmented by the turmoil of the Second World War. After establishing himself at Geelong in 1939, his tenure was interrupted when the club withdrew from the competition due to wartime travel restrictions, compelling him to find opportunities elsewhere to continue playing at the highest level. Taylor crossed to South Melbourne for a productive stint in 1943 before joining Melbourne, where he proved to be a lethal option near goal, booting 17 majors in just seven games to finish as the Demons' joint second-highest goalkicker in 1944. A dangerous offensive threat who averaged more than two goals a game during his wartime service, he eventually departed the VFL to continue his career with Port Melbourne in the VFA.
