Bio
Hailing from Mansfield in Victoria's high country, Peter Barran was a tall utility recruited to Kardinia Park during a difficult transition period for the club. Standing 185cm, he offered size and versatility to a Geelong side that struggled mightily throughout the 1957 season, eventually claiming the wooden spoon. Barran made his senior debut in Round 8 against South Melbourne but found consistent opportunities hard to come by in a team searching for a new identity following their early 50s golden era. He managed just five senior appearances in the Hoops before his VFL career concluded at the end of the year, leaving him as a brief footnote in a season the club was eager to move past.
