Bio
Recruited from Avondale Heights in the Essendon District Football League, Peter Baxter was a mid-sized utility who briefly established himself in the Footscray lineup during the mid-1980s. After managing just a single senior appearance in his debut 1985 season, Baxter enjoyed a breakout year in 1986 under coach Mick Malthouse, playing 16 games and proving his ball-winning ability with a career-high 25 disposals against North Melbourne. Standing at 180cm, he typically operated as a defender or link-up player, but he struggled to maintain that consistency over subsequent seasons. Baxter added only six more games to his tally across 1987 and 1988 before his VFL career concluded, leaving him as a serviceable contributor during a transitional era for the Bulldogs.
