Bio
Recruited from South Ballarat in the Victorian goldfields, Peter Bourke joined South Melbourne in 1906 to bolster the club's following division. Operating primarily as a follower or ruck-rover, he was a hard-working contributor at the Lake Oval who could win possession in the contest and drift forward to impact the scoreboard, booting eight goals across his 17 senior appearances. He featured regularly throughout the 1906 and 1907 seasons, playing his part during a rebuilding phase for the Southerners just prior to their ascent up the ladder. Bourke’s time at VFL level concluded after two years, and he later relocated to South Australia, where he lived until his passing in 1951.
