Bio
Recruited from North Heidelberg, Peter Boyne was a disciplined full-back who held down the key defensive post for Collingwood during the mid-1960s. Standing 185cm, he was a traditional stay-at-home defender who focused entirely on stopping his opponent rather than generating drive, a mindset reflected in a career stat line of zero goals. His tenure is most often associated with the 1966 Grand Final, where he was tasked with manning St Kilda hero Kevin Neale during the Magpies' agonising one-point defeat. Despite showing great promise as a long-term anchor for the Collingwood defence, Boyne’s career was abruptly ended at just 24 years of age following a severe knee injury sustained during the 1968 season.
