Bio
Recruited from amateur side Ormond, Peter Brenchley holds a unique place in Melbourne history as a player who featured in a Grand Final in every single season of his VFL career. Despite being a fringe player who managed just 29 games during the Demons' golden era under Norm Smith, he secured premiership medallions in 1957 and 1959, typically utilized as a reserve who could inject speed into the game late. His most famous selection came in the 1958 Grand Final loss to Collingwood, where he was shocked to be recalled to replace the injured Clyde Laidlaw despite not having played a senior match since Round 2. A quick and aggressive rover, Brenchley later moved to the SANFL with Norwood before returning to Victoria to play for Waverley in the VFA. While he added a VFA premiership to his haul in 1965, his playing days ended in controversy the following year when he received a severe suspension for striking an umpire.
