Bio
Arriving at Geelong as a mature-age recruit, Peter Bretherton faced the difficult task of breaking into one of the most formidable lineups of the interwar era. Standing just 173cm, the diminutive utility made his debut midway through the 1929 season, a year in which the Cats dominated the competition to claim the minor premiership. He held his spot for three consecutive matches during the winter months, tasting victory in all three appearances as Geelong marched toward the finals. However, the incredible depth of talent at Corio Oval ultimately squeezed him out of the side, and he was unable to regain his place before the club's eventual Grand Final campaign, leaving him with a brief but undefeated VFL record.
