Bio
Recruited from East Perth with pick 39 in the 1989 National Draft, Peter "Spider" Cransberg was a tall, versatile utility who spent much of his career battling for a permanent spot in a star-studded Essendon lineup. Standing 190cm with a light frame, he was often deployed as a defensive forward or run-with player, possessing the endurance to shut down opponents and the skill to drift forward and convert steady set shots. Cransberg experienced the highs and lows of league football early, playing on a half-forward flank in the 1990 Grand Final loss to Collingwood during his debut season, but found himself on the fringes during the "Baby Bombers" premiership run of 1993. A loyal clubman who dominated the lower grades when omitted—highlighted by his 1995 Reserves Best and Fairest win—he enjoyed a brief senior resurgence in his final season before transitioning into off-field roles at Windy Hill as a runner and recruiting officer.
