Teams

A product of Melbourne's junior development pathways, Peter Dilnot rose through the ranks as a premiership-winning Under 19s rover before breaking into the senior lineup. After a debut season consisting of a single match in 1972, he added four games the following year, etching his name into club folklore with one of the most memorable exits in VFL history. In Round 9, 1973 against Footscray at the Western Oval, Dilnot took a mark and booted the match-winning goal with what proved to be his final kick in league football. Despite this dramatic intervention securing the points for the Demons, he was omitted the following week and drifted out of the club shortly after, leaving behind a brief but perfectly scripted legacy.
