Bio
An industrious rover and small forward, Peter Filandia began his career with Essendon but found regular senior opportunities scarce amidst the depth of Kevin Sheedy's squad in the early 1990s. Seeking a lifeline, he transferred to the Sydney Swans in 1994, where his tenacity and goal sense saw him flourish as a key support player during the club's competitive resurgence. Filandia became a fixture in the Swans' lineup during the mid-90s, playing an integral role in the 1996 campaign that culminated in a Grand Final appearance against North Melbourne. He remained a serviceable contributor for Sydney until 2000, though his broader football legacy was later complicated by a severe suspension for biting while captaining Port Melbourne in the VFL, which effectively ended his state league career.
