Bio
Recruited from Newstead in Carlton's lucrative country zone, Peter Fyffe was a talented defender and utility who found himself stuck behind one of the most formidable lineups in VFL history. While he managed only 19 senior games across four seasons, his quality was undeniable at the lower level, where he claimed back-to-back Reserves Best and Fairest awards in 1971 and 1972. Unable to permanently displace the likes of Geoff Southby or David McKay during the Blues' premiership window, Fyffe was effectively used as a bargaining chip by club powerbrokers in 1974, sent to Tasmanian club Cooee as part of the deal to secure Greg Towns. He eventually returned to Victoria and cemented his legacy in the Bendigo Football League, becoming a captain and dual best and fairest winner for Castlemaine.
