Peter James Doyle

Recruited from Berrigan in the Riverina, Peter Doyle was a handy mid-sized utility whose VFL career was frustrated by persistent injury setbacks. He arrived at Kardinia Park in 1974 and quickly demonstrated an ability to find the football and impact the scoreboard, playing as a flanker and rotating midfielder. Despite showing flashes of his potential, Doyle struggled to remain on the park for extended stretches, most notably missing the entire 1977 season before fighting his way back for a final handful of high-possession appearances in 1978. While he proved to be a capable ball-winner when fit, the lack of continuity prevented him from cementing a long-term spot in the Geelong lineup, and he finished his tenure at the club with 38 senior games.
