Family

Born into Carlton royalty as the son of club legend and powerbroker Laurie Kerr, Peter Kerr arrived at Princes Park from St Kevin’s College facing the significant pressure of a famous surname. A versatile utility capable of operating as a half-forward flanker or in the last line of defence, he broke into the senior side as a teenager during the ruthless Ron Barassi era. Despite compiling 39 games across four seasons, Kerr was unable to cement a permanent spot in the Blues' formidable 1968 and 1970 premiership lineups, often finding himself on the fringe of a star-studded best 22. He departed the VFL scene at just 22 years of age but continued the family dynasty off the field, later serving as a long-standing board member and earning Life Membership in 1983.
