Bio
Hailing from Blayney in central New South Wales, Peter McCann was a rare interstate product during the league's pioneer era who reached the VFL via the Albury football pathway. His career was defined by two fleeting opportunities spaced three years apart, debuting first for South Melbourne in 1904 for a solitary appearance before dropping out of the elite system. After a considerable hiatus likely spent playing country football, McCann resurfaced in Melbourne for the 1907 season, this time recruited by Essendon for one final crack at the top level. He managed just one senior game for the Same Olds before his VFL tenure concluded, leaving him as a statistical curiosity who represented two foundation clubs without ever establishing a permanent foothold, eventually returning to live out his life in regional New South Wales.
