Bio
Arriving at Carlton with a formidable reputation as a dual Sturt best-and-fairest winner and son of Port Adelaide legend Geof Motley, Peter Motley was considered one of the most significant recruits of the 1980s. A dashing, flamboyant utility who combined pace with elite ball use, he quickly adapted to the VFL, featuring prominently on the wing and half-back flank during the Blues' strong start to the 1987 season. However, his career was tragically cut short after just 19 games when he was involved in a life-altering car accident in May 1987. Though he survived, the severe injuries forced his immediate retirement at age 22, leaving him remembered as one of the game's great "what ifs" and a beloved figure at Princes Park.
