Bio
Recruited from De La Salle, Peter Murnane was a skilful left-footed wingman and half-forward who capitalised on Hawthorn's dominance during the late 1970s. Renowned for his accurate kicking and ability to find space, he enjoyed a dream start to his VFL career by playing in the Hawks' 1976 premiership side in his debut season. He cemented his place in club history with a second flag in 1978, booting a goal from the half-forward flank in the Grand Final victory over North Melbourne. After six seasons at Glenferrie Oval, including a career-best five-goal haul against Essendon in his final year, Murnane requested a transfer to West Perth and finished his playing days in the WAFL.
