Bio
Recruited from Hampton in the local leagues, Peter Ryan arrived at South Melbourne as a young prospect during the mid-1950s. He found opportunities at senior level limited, struggling to cement a permanent spot in a Swans side that was consistently missing the finals. Ryan managed just a handful of appearances across two seasons, playing primarily as a defensive-minded utility who failed to impact the scoreboard before drifting out of the VFL system. While his on-field tenure was brief, he later established a distinguished career as a Chief Superintendent with the Victoria Police and remained a dedicated servant to the Police Legacy organisation until his passing in 2021.
