Bio
Arriving at Princes Park from Swan Districts in Western Australia with significant fanfare, Peter Sartori was a talented key forward recruited to form a twin-tower attack alongside Stephen Kernahan. Possessing strong hands and a reliable set shot, his time at Carlton was ultimately defined by persistent soft-tissue injuries that severely interrupted his continuity, most famously a hamstring strain in the 1987 Preliminary Final that cost him a place in the premiership side. Seeking consistent opportunity after five frustrated seasons, he was traded to Fitzroy in 1992 where he found a brief resurgence, including a memorable eight-goal haul against his former club. While he managed to lead the Lions' goalkicking in his final year, Sartori remains a classic case of what could have been, retiring with an impressive strike rate that hinted at the dominant force he might have become had his body held up.
