Bio
Recruited from East Malvern, Peter Sherman was a solidly built utility whose introduction to senior football was preceded by service as a telegrapher in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. He broke into the VFL with Richmond in 1947, but found opportunities scarce in a powerful Tigers lineup that was bound for the finals, managing just two senior appearances. Seeking greater regular playing time, Sherman transferred to St Kilda in 1949, where his 183cm frame offered a physical presence for a side anchored to the bottom of the ladder. He booted three goals across seven games at the Junction Oval, serving as a versatile option for the struggling Saints before his brief VFL career concluded.
