Family

Recruited from Melbourne High School, Peter Smith established himself as a lively rover capable of hitting the scoreboard during his initial tenure with the Demons. After two seasons at Melbourne, he crossed to Princes Park for the 1968 season, arriving just as the Blues were entering a dominant period under Ron Barassi. Despite a respectable goal-kicking record, Smith struggled to secure a permanent position in a star-studded Carlton midfield that included the likes of Adrian Gallagher and Sergio Silvagni. He largely served as a depth player during the Blues' ascent, playing a handful of senior games over three seasons before departing the VFL scene at the end of 1970.
