Bio
Recruited from Jerilderie in the Riverina district of New South Wales, Peter Stephens was a mobile ruckman who could also push forward to become a dangerous marking target. Standing at 193cm, he arrived at Kardinia Park in 1971 and immediately showed his capacity to hit the scoreboard, averaging nearly a goal a game across his three seasons with the Cats. While his VFL tenure was relatively brief, Stephens carved out a significant legacy in the local region after leaving the top flight. He crossed over to the VFA and famously captained Geelong West to their historic 1975 First Division premiership victory over Dandenong, securing the club's only top-tier flag.
