Bio
Recruited from the Tassie Mariners with pick 4 in the 1998 National Draft, Peter Street entered the league as a prodigious prospect due to his massive 211cm frame, which made him the equal-tallest player in VFL/AFL history at the time. Despite his significant height advantage, Street found it difficult to displace captain Steven King at Geelong and spent several seasons on the fringe of selection before requesting a trade to the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2003 in search of greater opportunities. He played his most consistent football at Whitten Oval, often shouldering the primary ruck duties or partnering with Luke Darcy, where his sheer size made him a formidable opponent at centre bounces and stoppages. However, as the game evolved to demand more mobility and athleticism from big men, Street's lack of pace and ground-level impact saw him fall out of favour under Rodney Eade, eventually retiring in 2008 as a distinct specialist whose physical attributes were gradually phased out by the modern style.
