Peter Williams

Recruited from Waverley, Peter Williams was an imposing physical presence who arrived at Punt Road as a tall, strongly built utility capable of playing as a key defender or ruck-rover. Standing 193cm, he played a rugged, straight-ahead brand of football that earned him the nickname "Basher" and saw him break into the senior side for seven games during the 1979 season. While his senior opportunities were limited to that single year, he was a dominant figure in the seconds, captaining the Richmond Reserves in both 1979 and 1980. After departing the Tigers, he spent a brief period with St Kilda's reserves before embarking on a long coaching career in suburban and country leagues, including stints at Warrnambool, Ringwood, and Mitcham. He later returned to the fold at Punt Road as a dedicated administrator, serving as the President of the Richmond Former Players and Officials Association.
