Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle in the WAFL, Peter Wilson arrived at Richmond in 1987 as a ready-made footballer and made an immediate impression, winning the Jack Dyer Medal as the club's Best and Fairest in his debut season. Despite his individual success and leadership qualities at Punt Road, the pull of his home state eventually saw him request a clearance to the West Coast Eagles, joining the club in 1990. This move allowed him to become a key figure in a dominant era for the West Australian side, where his experience and aggression added steel to a developing list.
On the field, Wilson was known as a tough, eccentric utility capable of playing key roles in both defence and the forward line. His playing style was often described as unorthodox, characterized by a unique kicking action and a willingness to improvise under pressure. This was most famously illustrated in the 1992 Grand Final against Geelong, where he soccered a tumbling goal from mid-air that became an iconic moment in the club's history. A cult hero among fans for his distinctive character and uncompromising attack on the ball, Wilson retired as a dual premiership player, having been integral to the Eagles' flag victories in 1992 and 1994.
