Bio
Recruited from West Coburg, Phil Carlton was a towering ruckman who earned a brief run with South Melbourne in the mid-1970s. Standing an imposing 194cm—a significant height for the era—he possessed the physical attributes to compete with the league's big men and was brought into the senior side midway through the 1975 season. Carlton played 10 matches for the Bloods, offering a contest at stoppages and drifting forward to kick two goals, but his VFL tenure remained limited to that solitary winter at the Lake Oval.
