Bio
Recruited from Moulamein in the New South Wales Riverina, Phil Gehrig was a towering unit who arrived at the Western Oval in the late 1950s. Standing 193cm, he was a giant for the era, utilized primarily as a ruckman and key forward who could drift forward to hit the scoreboard. Despite his imposing physical traits, Gehrig found it difficult to cement a long-term position in a Bulldogs side that was transitioning out of its golden premiership era. After two seasons in the VFL, he eventually returned to the bush, establishing a legacy in country football as the coach of Ganmain in the South West Football League.
