Bio
A recruit from Penguin in Tasmania's North West Football Union, Phil Lade was a half-back who enjoyed a promising but brief stint in the VFL. He broke into the Hawthorn lineup in 1966, playing 14 games in his debut season and establishing himself as a regular member of the defensive unit. Despite this strong start, opportunities dried up the following year, and after adding just a solitary game to his tally in 1967, he returned to his home state. Lade continued to perform at a high level in Tasmania, cementing his reputation as a top-tier local talent by representing the state at the 1969 Adelaide Carnival.
