Bio
Recruited from Middle Park, Phil Skehan was a robust follower who etched his name into South Melbourne history as a member of the 1918 premiership side that defeated Collingwood. Despite his on-field success, his time at the Lake Oval ended acrimoniously when he was sacked following a dispute with the club committee in 1919. Skehan attempted to continue his career in the VFA with Williamstown, but his debut for the Seagulls in 1921 ended in disaster; he suffered catastrophic injuries in a contest and passed away days later, marking a tragic conclusion to the life of a premiership hero.
