Bio
A product of Geelong College, Ralph Lancaster was a lively rover who made an immediate impact at Corio Bay, booting 20 goals in his debut 1929 season. Despite this promising start, he found himself fighting for a permanent spot in a powerhouse Geelong lineup, often serving as a depth player during the club's golden era of the early 1930s. His career was defined by near-misses; he was selected as the 19th man for the Cats' 1930 Grand Final loss to Collingwood and played nine games during the 1931 premiership season without making the final 18 for the flag triumph. Lancaster battled for senior selection over seven seasons before departing the league in 1935, leaving behind a legacy that was tragically cemented when he was killed in action in New Guinea during World War II.
