Bio
Arriving at Melbourne as a premiership-winning teenager from the West, Ralph Latham’s VFL career was a wartime cameo born of his service with the RAAF. After tasting flag success with West Perth in 1942 and crossing to Swan Districts, Latham was posted to Victoria in 1945 and immediately slotted into the Demons' lineup for a single season. While he began his stint in the red and blue holding down centre half-back, he was soon swung forward to great effect, utilizing his versatility to boot 11 goals from the half-forward flank. He played 16 games for Melbourne before the end of the war saw him return to Perth, where he resumed a distinguished WAFL career with Swan Districts until the early 1950s.
