Bio
Born on Christmas Day and known as "Kanga," Ralph Raisbeck arrived at Essendon via the club's 'A' side after serving as a driver in France during the First World War, where he was twice wounded in action. Standing 183cm and weighing 85kg, he was a physically imposing figure for the early 1920s, providing a robust presence that unfortunately ran afoul of the authorities during his debut season. After managing just two senior appearances in 1922, his year was abruptly cut short by a heavy six-match suspension that ruled him out of the latter stages of the season. Raisbeck returned for a solitary game in a win against Richmond in early 1923 before departing the VFL scene, leaving a brief legacy as a combat-hardened utility who played a tough brand of football.
