Bio
A seasoned interstate recruit who arrived at Fitzroy during one of the club's most difficult eras, Ralph Rogerson made a profound impact despite a short tenure. Originally establishing himself as a key forward with North Adelaide in the SANFL and East Perth in the WAFL, he was lured to Victoria in 1964 as a mature-age reinforcement. He immediately stood out as a beacon of consistency in a winless season for the Lions, playing every game and topping the club's goalkicking in his debut year. Rogerson's leadership qualities were so highly regarded that he was appointed club captain in 1965—succeeding club legend Kevin Murray—and earned selection for Victoria the same season. Although injuries forced his VFL retirement midway through 1966, he briefly continued his career in the VFA with Waverley, leaving behind a legacy as a respected leader who shouldered a heavy load during a lean period for the Roys.
