Bio
Ray Bromley was a tall and rugged utility player recruited from Geelong West who is best remembered for the physical reputation that preceded his brief VFL career. Before arriving at Arden Street, Bromley had served a severe 12-month suspension in the Geelong association for kicking an opponent, a testament to his uncompromising and aggressive approach to the contest. He was finally called up to the North Melbourne senior side late in the 1940 season, debuting as a 24-year-old in Round 16 against Footscray to help fill a list depleted by wartime enlistments. Standing 185cm, he offered a strong presence but managed just two senior appearances in the royal blue and white without registering a goal, eventually returning to obscurity after his short stint as a top-up player concluded.
