Stats
Bio
Recruited from Berrigan in the Riverina, Ray Ednie arrived at Punt Road as a solidly built, long-kicking half-forward. He made an immediate impression during his debut season in 1950, playing 17 games and winning Richmond’s Best First Year Player award. However, his promising career was quickly derailed by persistent injury setbacks, which forced him to miss the entire 1951 season and restricted him to just a handful of appearances over the following two years. Unable to recapture his rookie form, Ednie left the VFL mid-1953 to join Box Hill in the VFA, later enjoying a successful stint as a captain-coach in country football.
