Bio
Recruited from Oakleigh after serving with the RAAF, Ray Finn was a diminutive rover who made an explosive entry into VFL football during the war years. He announced himself at Windy Hill by booting four goals on debut and quickly cemented a spot in the side, capping off his maiden season by winning Essendon’s Best First Year Player award. Despite that promising foundation, Finn struggled to maintain his spot in the senior lineup the following year, adding only two games to his tally in 1945 before departing the league. He eventually returned to the VFA with Oakleigh for several seasons before moving to the country to play for Lake Boga near Swan Hill.
