Bio
Ray Hunt occupies a unique place in Richmond history as a skilled wartime recruit who achieved the ultimate success in a fleeting six-game cameo. Originally a standout for Glenelg in the SANFL, he joined the Tigers in 1943 while stationed in Melbourne with the RAAF during the Second World War. Operating as an attacking defender with the capacity to push up the ground, Hunt slotted seamlessly into Jack Dyer's side late in the season and held his spot for the club's 1943 premiership victory over Essendon. Following his military service, he returned to South Australia to cement his legacy as a Glenelg icon, winning two best and fairest awards and earning induction into their Hall of Fame, but he remains immortalised at Punt Road as a premiership player who made every game count.
