Stats
Bio
Recruited from local side Doutta Stars, Ray Lalor was a diminutive rover and half-forward who progressed through the Essendon thirds to make his senior debut during the 1956 season. He managed six consecutive games and kicked two goals in the middle of the year but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the lineup, eventually departing the VFL to play for Dandenong in the VFA and later returning to country football with Benalla. A talented dual sportsman who also played District Cricket for North Melbourne, Lalor's contribution to the game was brought back into focus decades later when his grandson, Sam Lalor, was selected by Richmond with the number one pick in the 2024 National Draft.
