Bio
Recruited from West Perth, Ray Lucev was a physically imposing utility who crossed the Nullarbor to join South Melbourne for the 1965 season. Standing 188cm, he brought a rugged, uncompromising style to the Lakeside Oval, alternating between ruck-rover and the forward line while occasionally pinch-hitting in the ruck. Known for his aggression and willingness to physically impact the contest, he was a prolific ball-winner who averaged over 15 disposals a game but often drew the ire of umpires due to his vigorous approach. After playing 30 games across two consistent seasons in the VFL, he returned to Western Australia to resume his career with the Cardinals.
