Stats
Bio
Recruited from junior sides the Brunswick Stars and St Ignatius, Ray McGaw was a lightly built wingman and centreman who relied on running power rather than physical presence. Breaking into the senior side as an 18-year-old in 1956, he spent three seasons on the fringe of selection, often serving as a depth player who shuffled between the seniors and the reserves. He managed a dozen VFL games over his tenure at Punt Road but struggled to cement a regular starting role against stiff competition. Following his departure from the top level, McGaw became a significant figure in local football, playing over 100 games and winning a premiership with the Richmond Amateurs.
