Bio
Recruited from Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League, Ray "Bunty" Niven was a dangerous forward who arrived at Brunswick Street to play alongside his older brother and club captain, Colin Niven. His tenure at Fitzroy was defined by a reliable eye for goal, maintaining an average of better than a major per game, and a significant interruption in 1932 when he crossed the Nullarbor to play for West Perth in the WAFL. After a successful season in the West, Niven returned to Victoria to resume his partnership with Colin, serving as a handy avenue to goal for the Maroons before concluding his time at the club in 1934.
