Bio
Recruited from Donald in central Victoria, Ray Shearer was a rover who briefly featured for Melbourne during the tumultuous wartime era. He spent the 1941 season developing in the Demons' seconds before earning his senior promotion for the opening two rounds of the 1942 season. Despite this promising start, he did not retain his place in the side and finished his VFL career with just two games to his name. He hailed from the same country town as contemporary Footscray player Wally Shearer, who also played as a rover during the same period.
