Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges with pick 56 in the 1993 National Draft, Rayden Tallis continued a family connection at Hawthorn, following in the footsteps of his grandfather Wally. He established himself as a dour, close-checking back pocket who prioritised defensive accountability over attacking flair. Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tallis was a fixture in the Hawks' defence, typically tasked with tagging dangerous small forwards and resting rovers with a disciplined, no-nonsense approach.
A one-club player, Tallis provided stability during a transitional period for Hawthorn as the club rebuilt following its golden era. He was elevated to the leadership group later in his career, serving as deputy vice-captain and earning respect for his selfless approach to the game. After battling persistent back injuries that limited his output in his final season, he retired at the conclusion of 2004, leaving the game as a life member of the club.
