Bio
Recruited from Perth in the WAFL with pick 6 in the 2010 National Draft, Reece Conca arrived at Richmond amid high expectations, famously selected ahead of future Essendon captain Dyson Heppell. While his time at Punt Road was frequently interrupted by soft-tissue injuries, Conca established himself as a versatile and combative utility capable of playing through the midfield or across half-back. Despite being a popular clubman and a consistent performer when fit, he struggled to cement a permanent role during the Tigers' rise to power, notably missing out on the 2017 premiership side due to injury and form constraints.
After 104 games with Richmond, Conca exercised his rights as a free agent to return to his native Western Australia, joining Fremantle ahead of the 2019 season. At the Dockers, he reinvented himself primarily as a lockdown small defender, often tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous goal-sneaks. His leadership qualities were recognised with elevation to the leadership group, and he provided a steady, experienced head in a developing backline. Although he reached the 150-game milestone in his final season, Conca fell out of favour under Justin Longmuir's defensive structure and was delisted at the conclusion of 2021.
