Bio
Recruited from Kew YCW, Reg Poole wasted no time establishing himself at Glenferrie Oval, etching his name into Hawthorn history during his debut season. A tough, uncompromising back pocket, he played a crucial role in the club's 1961 breakthrough premiership, helping the Hawks secure their first-ever VFL flag. After stepping away in 1962 to focus on his studies, Poole returned to man the defensive line for another six seasons, earning a reputation as a close-checking defender who rarely gave his opponent an inch. He retired prematurely at just 26 years of age, forever revered as a member of the club's inaugural premiership side, with the Poole name remaining prominent at Hawthorn through his daughter's subsequent role on the board.
