Recruited from Parkside, Reg Trigg was an opportunist forward who burst onto the VFL scene with a memorable debut late in the 1937 season. He immediately showcased his eye for goal by booting three majors against South Melbourne, offering the Maroons faithful a glimpse of his potential inside the attacking 50. However, Trigg was unable to consolidate that early form into a regular senior position, managing just two appearances early the following season before being cleared to VFA club Northcote in the middle of 1938. His football journey was later interrupted by global conflict, as he put his career aside to serve in the Australian Army during the Second World War.
