Bio
A durable Tasmanian recruit, Rex Geard crossed Bass Strait from Sandy Bay to join Richmond as a ruckman and back pocket. Although he managed just 11 games at Punt Road in the early 1950s, his legacy was defined by what he achieved after returning home. Dubbed "The Iron Horse" for his physical resilience, Geard became a colossus of Tasmanian football, captain-coaching Sandy Bay and playing over 200 games for the Seagulls. He is best remembered for his heroics in representative footy, where he dominated the ruck to help Tasmania secure a historic victory over the Big V in 1960.
