Bio
Hailing from Hope Vale in Far North Queensland and the nephew of rugby league icon Mal Meninga, Rex Liddy was identified early as a significant talent within Gold Coast's recruitment zone. Secured by the Suns as a priority access selection ahead of their inaugural 2011 campaign, he arrived with a reputation as a lively small forward with pace and natural instinct. Liddy made his debut in Round 4 against Melbourne but found it difficult to translate his junior form to the senior level, struggling to impact the scoreboard or maintain the fitness standards required for elite football. After managing just four appearances across two seasons, he was delisted at the conclusion of 2012 and returned to play locally in Cairns.
